The ProBAs project for disabled bachelor graduates has offered an opportunity for disabled graduates with a bachelor’s degree in science and administration to qualify themselves further, i.e. to acquire a master’s degree. ProBAs benefited from the results gained from previous integration projects. The project was started as a collaboration project organised at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut in January 2010.
The German university system has changed fundamentally as a result of the Bologna process. Most courses of study have been changed to the two-tier bachelor-master system. A bachelor's qualification is usually reached after 3 years and considered as a professional qualification. This may lead to considerable difficulties for many disabled bachelor graduates in obtaining the support for the additional expenditure required for reasons of their disability in order to complete the second part of their education, the master course.

- to draw the attention of key actors of society and politics to the declining support for disabled students
BroBAs has offered targeted opportunities of further professional qualification for disabled bachelor graduates ("training on the job").
Training on the job
To achieve better qualifications for the "first job market", the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut and two other project partners, the Centre for Students with Visual Impairments (Zentrum für sehbehinderte und blinde Studierende, BliZ), the University of Applied Science of Middle-Hesse (Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen), the Technical University of Dortmund (DoBuS), and the Robert Koch Institute offered disabled bachelor graduates two to three-year courses as an opportunity for further qualification. The aim was to improve the job chances for these disabled graduates in industry, research and administration.
The PEI provided employment for seven disabled bachelor graduates between 2010 and 2012. These participants in the project worked on research projects, scientific publications and opinions, as well as in administration.
Lectures, seminars, etc.
Various lectures, seminars, discussions, and workshops were held to draw the attention of companies, politicians, and society, especially potential employers, to this subject. In addition, personal advice was provided on a large scale.
