Issue 3/2018 of the Pharmacovigilance Bulletin is online
The latest Bulletin on Drug Safety highlights key insights into the safety of HPV vaccination and comments on the safety of blood components in response to inappropriate media information. Other topics are, among others, the EU Falsified Medicines Directive, a package of measures for protection from falsified medicines as well as a study on the app-based collection of occupational influenza vaccine symptoms.
!nkA project for more inclusion traineeships successfully completed
The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI), the Federal Institute for Vaccines and Biomedicines, is committed to the professional integration of disabled people in many ways. On 13 September 2018, the inclusion project !nkA coordinated by Annetraud Grote from PEI was successfully finalized in Berlin.
CAR T cells generated in vivo
In August 2018, two CAR T cell therapeutics obtained marketing authorization from the European Commission. They provide efficacious treatment options for patients suffering from certain forms of leukemia and who have not responded to other treatment options. However, manufacturing CAR T cells that are composed of genetically engineered patient immune cells is laborious: the cells are taken from the patient, genetically modified with the CAR, multiplied and then reinfused into the same patient.
