The New Building Project
The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (PEI), based in Langen near Frankfurt am Main, will receive a new building. The new complex will be built on a plot directly across from the building that is currently in use.

The new building complex is to comprise around 31,000 m² of usable area and will be divided into laboratory areas, office space, animal facilities, common areas (lecture hall, museum, cafeteria), logistics, and a parking garage. The site covers about 65,000 m² of land. Open spaces will also be constructed around the complex.
Project Participants
Many partners are involved in the new construction project. The Institute for Federal Real Estate (Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben, BImA), the federal government's centralised real estate institution, is the owner of the newly acquired site. The BImA is also the owner of the new building, which it will rent out to the Federal Ministry of Health (user department) and to the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut (user and future operator). The Oberfinanzdirektion Frankfurt am Main is the regional authority responsible for building administration in the state of Hesse. Lastly, the State Office for Construction and Real Estate in Hesse (Landesbetrieb Bau und Immobilien Hessen, LBIH) will lead project implementation on the construction management level of the building administration authority for the state of Hesse.
