WHO Collaborating Centres at the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut
Since its creation as a specialized agency of the United Nations (UN) in 1948, the World Health Organization (WHO) has been working in close collaboration with a network of so-called WHO Collaborating Centres. Based on their excellent international status and expertise, these Collaborating Centers support the WHO in fulfilling its mission.
WHO Collaborating Centres, which meanwhile include around 800 institutions all over the world, have assumed various functions and co-ordinate them on behalf of the WHO in all possible areas of health care provision. Only very few of these institutions are specialized in vaccines or blood products/IVD.
The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut has two WHO Collaborating Centres:
