Database Standardized Blood Donor Deferral

The database is accessible only for blood establishments.

The PEI online database for travel‐related deferrals of blood donors indicates the distribution of selected infectious agents in 282 geographical regions worldwide.

These infectious agents currently are Zika virus (ZIKV), West Nile virus (WNV), Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), Plasmodium (Malaria) and prion protein (vCJD).

Procedures related to such infectious agents and the use of the database have been announced in decisions (graduated plan procedures) and contribute to high standards of blood safety.
