Events on the occasion of the centenary of Paul Ehrlich's death
Paul Ehrlich - Pioneer of modern medicine.
The achievements of the great researcher of medicine and Nobel Prize winner Paul Ehrlich were honoured on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his death during three separate events.
One of his major developments in the field of research is Salvarsan – his first therapeutic product which uses targeted effects in the treatment of patients. In developing this product, Paul Ehrlich laid the foundations for the type of pharmacotherapy in which targets for treatment are identified and active ingredients are then developed to address these targets.
100 years later, a type of therapy has been developed which increasingly uses differences in the genetics and molecular biology of patients to "personalise" treatment, in other words to provide tailor-made treatments in the use of medicines designed to lead to maximum success.
