The vaccines Td-pur and Td-IMMUN are authorised in Germany against tetanus and diphtheria from the age of five. The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut would like to inform the public that two packaging sizes of Td-IMMUN have been supplied to the German market since September 2025 as an alternative to the previously available Td-pur vaccine. This alternative makes it possible to provide patients with a tetanus diphtheria vaccine for primary and booster vaccinations in Germany.

The marketing authorisation holder of Td-pur, Astro Pharma Vertrieb und Handel von pharmazeutischen Produkte GmbH (Astro Pharma), had informed the Paul-Ehrlich-Institut that Td-pur would probably no longer be available from August 2025. Astro Pharma reported that the manufacturer, GSK, had ceased production. As an alternative, Astro Pharma announced the launch on the German market of the Td-IMMUN vaccine from the marketing authorisation holder and manufacturer AJ Vaccines A/S. Td-IMMUN is also approved for primary vaccination against tetanus and diphtheria in persons aged five years and older who have not yet received primary vaccination or if their vaccination history is incomplete or unknown.

Both packaging sizes became available on or before Monday, 1 September 2025.
The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut had received no reports of supply shortages of the two vaccines as of 17 September 2025.
