Research in the Virology Division
Research Focus
This division conducts research related to official testing duties on the efficacy and safety of vaccines and on the detailed characterisation of the immune response after vaccination or infection. Another essential focus of the division is its research into broadly effective antiviral strategies, conducted by modulating the innate immune response in order to efficiently inhibit the proliferation of novel pandemic pathogens.
The Virology Division also researches the life cycle and virus-associated pathogenesis of various hepatitis viruses in order to develop antiviral and therapeutic strategies for chronic infections.
