Glossary
The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut has developed the definitions in this glossary to help users understand regulatory and biomedical terminology. Definitions may differ from those given in German and European Union legislation and medicine. Many definitions correspond to the glossary entries on the pages of the European Medicines Agency (EMA).
ICMRA – International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Agencies
The International Coalition of Medicines Regulatory Agencies (ICMRA) is a voluntary coalition of medicines authorities from all regions of the world that is working to ensure global access to safe, effective and high-quality medicines. The Paul-Ehrlich-Institut is a member of ICMRA.
Immune Modulator
Immunomodulators are drugs that affect the immune system. They can have a stimulating effect, ie boost the immune defense or suppress the body's immune system (immune suppression).
IQWIG - Institut für Qualität und Wirtschaftlichkeit im Gesundheitswesen
The "Institut für Qualität und Wirtschaftlichkeit im Gesundheitswesen (IQWIG, Institute for Quality and Efficiency in Health Care) is a professionally independent scientific institute. Among other things, the G-BA and the Federal Ministry of Health commission IQWIG to compare pharmaceuticals with each other. The aim is to provide the public with information about the benefits, quality and efficiency of medical services.
